Available as a UK single (90x190cm), UK Small Double (120x190cm) or UK Double (135x190cm)
To get the bed frame length and width add 8cm each side to your chosen bed size
Guard rails are 41cm tall. It is possible to make these taller by 10cm if required, please contact us for a quote

There is a 5cm gap between floor and mattress for ventilation

Every First Big Bed is handcrafted to order in our specialist European workshops using premium solid wood. Once your order is placed, you'll receive access to your own personal tracking page, where you can follow your bed's progress from production through to delivery. We'll also keep you updated via email and SMS at key stages.
All orders are shipped using fully tracked delivery services, with larger furniture delivered by our trusted specialist furniture partners.
As our beds are made to your chosen specification, they are generally non-returnable under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. If you need to amend or cancel your order, please contact us as soon as possible. We allow a 72-hour amendment period before production begins wherever possible.
If your order arrives damaged or with missing parts, simply let us know and we'll work quickly to put things right.

What age is this bed suitable for?
Our beds are designed to help children transition from a cot to their first big bed. Most children are ready between 18 months and 4 years old, although every child develops at their own pace. Are your beds made from solid wood?
Yes. Every First Big Bed is handcrafted from premium FSC® certified solid European pine. Unlike MDF or particleboard furniture, solid wood is naturally stronger, longer lasting and can be enjoyed for years to come.
Are your paints safe for children?
Absolutely. All painted finishes use carefully selected child-safe, water-based paints that are low in VOCs and suitable for children's furniture.
Can I choose which side the opening is on?
Many of our beds can be configured with the entrance on either the left or right-hand side. Where this option is available, simply select your preferred layout before adding your bed to your basket.
Can I customise my bed?
Many of our beds can be personalised with options such as:

Can the bed grow with my child?
Yes. Many of our beds are available in larger mattress sizes, while selected floor beds can be upgraded with optional 20cm leg extension kits, allowing the bed to evolve as your child grows.
How much weight can the bed support?
Our solid wood beds are built for everyday family life and are designed to comfortably support both children and an adult during bedtime stories or those occasional nighttime cuddles. The maximum recommended weight is 150kg.
What mattress should I choose?
Our beds are designed to fit standard UK mattress sizes. For the best comfort and support, we recommend choosing one of our premium children's mattresses, which have been carefully selected to complement our bed frames.
Is assembly required?
Yes. All of our beds are supplied flat-packed with detailed assembly instructions and the necessary fixings. Most customers assemble their bed using standard household tools. If you need someone to assemble your bed do get in touch, we can help arrange this.
How long will my order take?
Because every First Big Bed is handcrafted to order, estimated lead times vary throughout the year. Once you've placed your order, you'll receive access to your own personalised tracking page where you can follow production from workshop to delivery. We'll also keep you updated via email and SMS throughout the process.
How is my bed delivered?
All orders are shipped using fully tracked delivery services. Depending on the size of your order, we work with a trusted network of parcel couriers and specialist furniture delivery partners to ensure your bed arrives safely.
Can I return my bed?
As each bed is handcrafted to your chosen specification, our furniture is generally classed as made-to-order and is therefore exempt from standard change-of-mind returns under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. If you need to amend or cancel your order, please contact us as soon as possible and we'll always do our best to help.
Does my bed come with a warranty?
